Sulphur hot springs at the foot of Mount Pusuk Buhit near the town of Pangururan on the west side of Lake Toba, their water flowing down a slope of white mineral terraces built up over time, so that from afar the hill looks like snow amid the green. Around the springs are pools and small facilities run by local people, filled with the hot water, looking out over the lake and the mountain. Visitors come to relax, and many believe the sulphur water is good for skin and muscles. Pools are cheap, about ten to twenty thousand rupiah depending on the facility, and some offer private rooms for families. The sulphur smell is strong and the water hot, so test it before getting in. The springs are about an hour from Tuk Tuk, so combine them with Mount Pusuk Buhit, Parbaba beach and the Tele tower on a day on the lake's west side, ending with a soak in the hot water.
