**By boat from the beach, or a twenty-minute walk over the headland โ no road reaches it at all.** โ **By boat (easiest)**: small boats **leave from Agios Nikitas beach** at short intervals in season, **for a small one-way fare** โ a few minutes' crossing. โ **This is the only practical option** with small children, beach kit, or difficulty walking, **and the last boat back has a fixed time โ ask for it and do not miss it**. โ **On foot**: a path climbs from the village's edge over the headland and drops down โ **about 20 minutes** each way. โ **The path is rocky, unsurfaced and completely unshaded**, with steep sections โ **closed shoes are essential**, plus water, **and do not walk it between 12:00 and 16:00 in summer**. โ **Why it is worth it**: **Milos is far wider** than the village's small beach, **and quieter**, because the access filters the visitors, **with water of the same turquoise clarity**. โ **And it has no facilities at all** โ **carry water, food and shade**, and there are no toilets.

**The last genuine fishing village on the west coast, one street running down to a small bay** โ about 12 km from Lefkada town. It is **the only village** on this coast to have kept its shape: **a single narrow street** between stone houses with balconies, dropping from the upper road straight to **a small beach** between two headlands. โ **Cars are barred from it** โ you park above and walk down, **which is why it has survived as it is**. โ From the beach **small boats run to Milos** โ a neighbouring bay reachable only by boat or a twenty-minute walk over the headland, **and far finer than the village beach itself**. โ **The village beach is very small** and fills completely at peak. โ But the village in the evening is **genuinely lovely**, with its tavernas on the water.
