The city's great mosque

One of Bandar Lampung's largest and best-known mosques, on a hill in the Teluk Betung district overlooking Lampung Bay and the city; it is the city's congregational mosque, where the great prayers of the Eids and special occasions are held. The mosque catches the eye with its large dome and minarets and elements inspired by traditional Lampung ornament, among them the siger, Lampung's bridal crown, in details of its architecture. The prayer hall is broad and bright, surrounded by courtyards, a school and associated buildings. It serves daily and Friday prayers; entry is free, and visitors are welcome outside prayer times in modest dress. It is a stop for Muslim visitors in the city, close to the Lampung Museum and the waterfront, and the city has restaurants serving Lampung dishes such as fish in the spicy seruit sauce.
