The largest public park in central Kuwait City, its first phase opened in 2015 along a long stretch between districts, counted among the region's largest green-roof projects, with broad lawns, trees, native plants, lakes and fountains. Long paths for walking, running and cycling run through the park, with family areas, cafés and restaurants and a botanical garden of desert and native plants, making it a breathing space for Kuwaitis in the milder months. The park has two museums: the Remembrance Museum, honouring Kuwait's martyrs and the story of resistance to the invasion, and the Habitat Museum, showing Kuwait's nature through models, along with a memorial to the martyrs. Entry to the park is free, and the museums charge token fees. Mornings or evenings in the cooler months, from November to March, are best, as summer is extremely hot.
