Al Wakrah Beach is a long, flat strip of sand on the Gulf about 2 km south of Souq Al Wakrah. Its seabed shelves very gently, so the water stays calm and shallow. Entry is free, and the Ministry of Municipality lists two beaches along this shore: one open to everyone and one for families. Al Wakrah began as a small fishing and pearling village. In October 2017 the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) launched a project to redevelop 335,000 square metres of its beach in three zones, with walkways, about 120 pergolas and 600 parking spaces. An 85 m walkway, built in 2022, brings older and less mobile visitors close to the water, and a 500 m promenade with Braille signs for visually impaired visitors, billed as the region's first, followed in 2024. The beach faces east, so early risers see the sunrise over the Gulf. At low tide the sea draws back slowly across wide sand flats, and reaching swimming depth can mean a long wade over patches that may be rocky or muddy. Families picnic under gazebos and umbrellas and barbecue in the designated areas, children use the playgrounds, and there are volleyball and football pitches. It lies on Al Wakrah's southern seafront, about 17 km south-south-east of Souq Waqif as the crow flies and 14 km south of Hamad International Airport. Come from November to March, when Doha's average daytime highs are 23 to 30°C; summer highs top 40°C. Pair it with an evening at Souq Al Wakrah; Sealine Beach lies 36 km south.

Yes, in the designated barbecue areas. The Ministry of Municipality asks visitors not to light fires directly on the sand or bury charcoal ash in it, and to use the bins.
By car it takes about 25 to 30 minutes from central Doha. Without one, take the Doha Metro Red Line to Al Wakra, its southern terminus, about 5 km north of the beach as the crow flies, then a taxi or ride-hailing car.
