The largest integrated leisure area on Jakarta's waterfront, opened in 1966, gathering a theme park, beaches, a water park, a sea world, hotels and restaurants on Jakarta Bay. Its most famous part is the Dunia Fantasi theme park, known as Dufan, Indonesia's largest and oldest theme park. Dufan has roller coasters and thrill rides for adults, gentle rides for children, and shows. Around it in Ancol are Sea World, the Atlantis water park, a bird park, a beachfront promenade and marinas with boats to the nearby Thousand Islands. The area is large, and you move around it by car or internal bus. You pay an entry fee for the Ancol area itself, then a separate ticket for each park. A Dufan ticket starts from about two hundred and seventy-five thousand rupiah on weekdays and about four hundred thousand at weekends, with frequent offers on the official website. Allow a full day for Dufan alone, and avoid school holidays and Eid for the crowds. Bring a hat and water, as most rides are exposed to the sun.
