The Anse Major Trail is a walking route on the north-west coast of Mahe, inside Morne Seychellois National Park, ending at a small beach no car can reach. It is among the island's best-known walks, combining forest, huge boulders and high views over a blue sea, so it draws those who want an active day rather than lying on the sand. The Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority runs it, and its official trail list shows it as operational with a fee. It has no notable historic events attached, as its fame is natural. It lies within Mahe's largest national park, where rules protect the mountains, forests and coast, so the route remains lightly built even today. The path crosses smooth dark granite, passing palms and low ferns, with turquoise water and distant islands on the horizon below. At the end you drop to a small cove with big rounded rocks, white sand and green forest behind. You may find taxi boats at the beach carrying walkers back to the other side. The cove is about 7 km in a straight line from Victoria. Start early and bring sturdy shoes, plenty of water and a hat, as the sun is strong and shade is scarce on parts of the route. The rock is slippery after rain, so avoid walking here in storms. Take your rubbish with you, and ask about return boats before relying on them.

The authority does not list a guide requirement here, unlike the Morne Seychellois trail, so confirm when buying your ticket.
