**With care.** The water is clear and calm in the sheltered bay, which helps, but **the bed is rocky and you enter over boards or slippery stones** โ and **water shoes are essential** for everyone, not only children. Add that access is by **steps and a slope** and that the space is **very small**, so it packs tightly and keeping an eye on a child among people is hard. โ There is no lifeguard. Anyone with small children will find the nearby **sandy beaches of Faliraki** far more suitable, and can leave this bay to the snorkellers.
**Before nine in the morning** or **after four in the afternoon** in July and August โ the bay is very small, loungers are limited, and the car park and the slope fill before midday. In **May, June, September and October** it is far easier: the water is still warm, especially in September, and the place can breathe. โ Remember the bay faces east, so the sun enters in the morning and leaves it **relatively early in the afternoon** because of the cliff โ for sun, go before midday; for quiet and shade, late in the day.

A small bay ringed by rock and pine on the eastern coast of Rhodes near Faliraki, its water among the clearest on the island โ green and blue over a rocky bed whose detail shows from the surface. Its name has a story: in **1961** part of the film **The Guns of Navarone** was shot here, with the Mexican-American actor **Anthony Quinn** among its cast. Quinn loved the place and tried to buy land in the area; the local account holds that he paid for it but the transaction was never completed in law and the courts disputed it for years. His name stuck to the bay regardless and has never come off. The bay is **not sandy**: its bed and shore are **shingle and rock**, and you enter the water by wooden boards or over stones โ which makes it excellent for **snorkelling** and poor for anyone wanting soft sand. โ It is **very small** and fills early in summer, and access is by a sloping road and then steps. โ Don't confuse it with **Navarone Bay** near Lindos โ another location from the same film.
