The «Big Castle» or «Giant of Boa Vista», officially the Governador Plácido Castelo stadium, opened on 11 November 1973 with a 0-0 draw between Ceará and Fortaleza, and is named after the governor who drove its construction. It belongs to the Ceará state government and holds about 58,000 spectators, one of the largest grounds in the country. It is home to the city's two big clubs, Ceará and Fortaleza, whose «Clássico-Rei» is among the fiercest derbies in north-east Brazil. It was fully renovated for the 2014 World Cup and hosted six matches, including Brazil's goalless group-stage draw with Mexico. There are no regular stadium tours at present, so the best way to see it is at a match, the derby above all, with tickets bought ahead through the clubs. It lies in the south of the city, about twenty minutes by car from the Beira-Mar waterfront.
