Arena MRV is the modern football stadium of Atlético Mineiro, one of Brazil's biggest and best-supported clubs, seating about 44,892, which makes it the second-largest stadium in Belo Horizonte after the Mineirão. It stands in the Califórnia district in the north-west of the city, on Avenida Juscelino Kubitschek near Eldorado metro station. The project began in September 2017 with an overwhelming vote of the club's council, and Rubens Menin, head of the MRV engineering firm and the club's main sponsor, donated the land, then valued at R$60 million. To fund construction the club sold half its stake in a shopping centre, and MRV bought the stadium's naming rights for ten years. It was designed by the architect Bernardo Farkasvölgyi, with an acoustic system that allows major concerts inside the bowl. Watching an Atlético match among its passionate fans is an unforgettable experience; tickets are sold through the club's official channels according to the fixture list. Stadium tours are sometimes run, so ask about them.
