Rare granite rock formations on the ridge of Beida Mountain at about 1,700 m in Hexigten Banner, under Chifeng, part of the nine-area Hexigten Global Geopark and rated in China's top class of scenic areas. Granite pillars and blocks stand along the ridge in broken rows, some like towers and some like mushrooms or animals, said to have been shaped in part by glaciers; grassland and forest around them turn green in summer and bright in autumn, and wooden walkways run between the rocks. Tickets cost CNY 135 including the shuttle bus, open from 8 am to 6 pm, per visitor guides; it is at its best from June to October, and since it lies far from Chifeng city it is worth staying overnight in Hexigten.
