Doha's biggest park, 88 hectares in the Aspire sports zone, where residents come for picnics, jogging and family gatherings in the open air. It has the only lake in Qatar, home to waterbirds and ducks, plus fountains, a small hill, walking and running paths, many kinds of rare and common trees, playgrounds and a café. The 300-metre Aspire Tower, the «Torch», which held the flame of the 15th Asian Games, rises over the park, with Khalifa International Stadium and Villaggio Mall next door. Entry is free and it is open all day, busiest on winter evenings and weekends. Go in the late afternoon, when the heat eases.
