The world's tallest outdoor elevator according to Guinness World Records since 2015, a double-deck glass lift fixed to a cliff in Wulingyuan, rising 326 m in about a minute and a half and saving visitors a two-hour climb to the Yuanjiajie plateau. Built from 1999 and opened in 2002, its lower part is bored inside the mountain and its upper part is an open steel tower; from the glass cabins riders watch the pillars and the valley fall away below them as they rise. It stirred environmental debate when built, as it stands in a World Heritage Site, but it has become one of the area's best-known sights; queues are long in season and can top an hour on holidays. Tickets are about CNY 65 one way or 130 return, on top of the park ticket, per visitor guides. Ride up in the morning to avoid the queues.
