A quiet old Naxi village at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the first seat of the Mu rulers before they moved to Lion Hill, where Lijiang Old Town grew; in 2012 it was chosen for the first list of China's traditional villages. The village keeps its rural character: a main street of stone between earth and timber houses, workshops of traditional Naxi embroidery, and fields running to the foot of the mountain, whose white peaks look down on the village. Visitors come to escape the old-town crowds, cycling through the countryside between Baisha and Shuhe, watching embroiderers at work and tasting local food. Wandering the village is free, with token fees for some sights inside. It lies on the road to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, so the two fit into one day.

For its calm rural character: it was the first seat of the Mu rulers, has Naxi embroidery workshops and lies on the road to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain; it's free to wander.
