Banpo Bridge is a double-decked road bridge about a kilometre and a half long across the Han River in central Seoul, the first two-level bridge built in Korea. Along both its sides runs the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain, listed by Guinness World Records as the longest bridge fountain in the world. Water shoots from hundreds of nozzles along the bridge's edges and falls into the river like a curtain, and in the evening it is lit in changing colours set to music. Each show lasts about twenty minutes, and the evening shows are by far the finest. The best place to watch is Banpo Hangang Park on the south bank, with steps, lawns and bike stations, and you can also walk across the low Jamsu Bridge directly beneath Banpo Bridge. Near the park are the three Sebitseom floating islands with their lit-up buildings and restaurants. The shows run only from mid-March to the end of October and are cancelled in rain and wind. Arrive a quarter of an hour before the show and bring something to sit on.
