A Lingnan-style garden in Zini village, Shawan, in Panyu south of Guangzhou, created in the late Qing in memory of Bao Zheng, the upright official of the Northern Song famed for refusing excess tribute; destroyed in 1957 and rebuilt in 1995, its name, «Bao's inkstone», recalls his story. Waterways wind between red-roofed pavilions, covered galleries and stone bridges, through lush gardens and ponds full of koi, and its sister garden, Nanyue Garden, next door, can be visited on a joint ticket. Tickets are CNY 54, and it is open from 8.30 am to 5 pm, per visitor guides. It is about 30 km from the city centre and pairs well with nearby Shawan old town.

Zini village, Shawan town, Panyu District, south Guangzhou
It is in Panyu, about 30 km south of central Guangzhou; a taxi, or the metro and a local bus, is easiest, and it combines with Shawan old town in a day.
