Batllava Lake is a reservoir in the Llap region of north-eastern Kosovo and one of the largest bodies of water in the country, covering about 3.3 square kilometres. People from Pristina come here to swim and relax in summer, making it one of Kosovo's best-known outing spots. Its dam was built from 1961 to 1965 to supply water to power stations, and the lake later became a drinking-water source for Pristina and the surrounding area. It is about 6 km long and up to 700 metres wide, reaches 48 metres deep, and its dam is about 40 metres high. Hills covered in thick forest surround the lake and are mirrored in the calm water, so the place changes colour with the seasons, green in spring and gold in autumn. Cafés, wooden jetties and benches line the shores, and in summer you see small boats and swimmers, while early in the morning the water lies still as a mirror. Pristina is about 21 km away in a straight line, and Podujevo about 14 km.
