A curtain of threads

Two neighbouring waterfalls in rainforest on the southern slope of Mount Rinjani: first Benang Stokel, with two parallel streams like strands of thread, and then Benang Kelambu, meaning curtain of threads, where spring water seeps from a moss- and plant-covered rock wall in dozens of fine threads, like a sheer curtain. Visitors walk from the entrance along a shady forest path, first to Benang Stokel in minutes, then up steps for about half an hour to Benang Kelambu. The water is cold and pure, and you can stand beneath the threads. Villagers offer guiding and carrying services. The fee is a token one, with a guide optional at an agreed price. The steps are slippery after rain. Come in the morning in the dry season with a change of clothes. It combines with coffee farms and villages on the way back, about an hour and a half from Mataram.
