If you are passing on the way to Kandersteg or Oeschinen: yes, a very pretty hour and fun for children (the boat and the fish). As a trip from Interlaken purely for its own sake: doubtful — it is very small, seen in an hour, and the fee is not token. Go early or late; summer midday is crowded and the water's colour is lovelier in slanting light.

The Blausee is a very small lake (about three quarters of a hectare) yet one of Switzerland's most famous images: water of a **transparent indigo blue** so clear that you see the bed, the sunken tree trunks and the fish with complete clarity, ringed by dense pine forest and moss-covered rocks — its colour comes from exceptionally pure underground springs and the refraction of light on limestone sediment. The site is a **private nature park with an entry fee**: you pay to enter a managed reserve with paths around the lake, small glass-bottomed boats (usually included with the ticket), an organic trout farm and its restaurant, a playground and short forest trails. Local legend says the lake formed from the tears of a girl who lost her beloved, the water taking the blue of her eyes. It is small and seen in an hour or two — add it to an Oeschinen or Kandersteg day, since it is on the same route.
