The Purificação («Purification») waterfall is a fall and swimming hole in the Vale do Capão, in the north of Chapada Diamantina National Park in Palmeiras, one of the valley's sights. It lies on the Capão River, which runs through and names the valley, near the valley village and the Poço da Angélica. The local tourism platform describes it as a small fall about five metres high set in forest, with greenish water that is always cold thanks to the shade of the trees. The trail starts at the Bomba settlement in the Vale do Capão and takes about an hour, crossing the river several times and running mostly over rocks, with stretches that need extra care not to get lost or slip. It suits a calm half-day away from the busier falls; anyone who doesn't know the way should go with a local guide, wearing shoes suited to wet rock.
