The Cachoeira do Fraga lies on the Brumado River in Rio de Contas, the oldest town in the Chapada Diamantina. It is about thirty metres high and one of the town's best-known postcard views, made up of two falls that form natural pools ideal for swimming, on several levels. Here the river runs over a rough, rocky bed before ending in the cascade in two stages, two and a half kilometres from the Vila Velha falls. The falls appeared as the lead image in a Manchete magazine feature on the Chapada, where the journalist wrote that reaching them takes a walk of about three kilometres, «but it is worth it: it forms a shallow, warm pool». It has been described as the most visited waterfall in Rio de Contas, and suits half a day of swimming and resting on the rocks. Wear suitable shoes for the trail, carry water, and avoid rainy days when the river can rise suddenly.
