Cachoeira do Tororó is one of the best-known waterfalls around Brasília, in the Jardim Botânico administrative region south-east of the capital, popular for hiking and abseiling down its rock face. It is reached from the DF-140 heading south past the roundabout with the Júlio Garcia road, then along a narrow unpaved track to a parking area where someone minding the cars usually charges a small fee. From there a narrow, stony trail drops through open scrub to the Santana stream, which you cross before following its bank through dense forest for a short distance to the falls, which pour over a rock wall into a pool where you can swim. The ground is slippery after rain, so wear proper shoes and avoid rainy days.
