Cala Macarella is a beach on the southwest coast of the Spanish island of Menorca in the Balearics, about 14 km from Ciutadella and about 11 km southeast of it in a straight line. It is considered one of Menorca's most beautiful beaches. The beach lies between the headlands of Castellet de Macarella and Punta de na Xulla, west of Santa Galdana bay and near the small Macarella lagoon. Inside the main cove are two smaller ones: Macarella to the north and little Macarelleta to the east. The cove is wild and isolated, shaped like a U, with the Camí de Cavalls coastal path running behind it. High cliffs covered in thick pine forest surround the cove, opening onto a beach of fine white sand, with clear water shading from pale turquoise to deep blue. Behind the beach a green, damp ravine is home to sea turtles and fish. Visitors arrive by bus or car from Ciutadella and walk a short path through the pines, or come by boat. They swim in the clear water, and some walk the coastal path to Macarelleta or Santa Galdana; the beach is very busy in summer, so arrive early.
