A large science museum in Exposition Park, south of downtown Los Angeles, much loved by families and children, with hands-on exhibits on life, ecosystems, space and engineering, and a big kelp forest tank. Its star is the Space Shuttle Endeavour, one of the shuttles that actually flew to space, which is being moved into a new building, the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center, where it will stand upright in launch position with its external tank and two boosters. The building opens to the public on 13 November 2026, per the science center. The halls also hold real aircraft and spacecraft, including a SpaceX Dragon capsule, along with exhibits on the human body and ecosystems, and a giant-screen cinema. General admission is free, while the new air and space center needs a timed reservation with a small service fee, per the science center. Other Exposition Park museums, including the Natural History Museum, are next door, making it a good family day out.
