Rows of purple lavender on the terraces of a green hill, framed by blue hydrangeas and colourful daisies, in one of the Cameron Highlands' most visited family stops. Lavender does not grow in Malaysia's usual heat; only the cool of the highlands allows it, which makes the garden a pleasant surprise for visitors from hot cities. The garden is small and laid out for photographs, with paths between flowering beds, a cafe serving lavender ice cream and sweets, and a shop of lavender products from soap to scented cushions. There are decorated corners for family pictures. Entry is around RM 20 for adults and RM 10 for children, and it opens daily roughly from nine to six. Be realistic: this is a small commercial flower garden, not the vast lavender fields of European photographs, and the density of bloom changes with the seasons. It is north of Brinchang on the road to Mount Brinchang, so it fits into a tour of the farms and the Mossy Forest. An hour is enough, and mornings are nicer before the crowds.

For family photos and with children, yes: it is neat and pretty. Anyone expecting vast lavender fields may be disappointed; it is a small garden seen in an hour.
