A towering rocky cape jutting into the sea northeast of Bejaia, topped by a white lighthouse more than two hundred metres above sea level, counted among the highest lighthouses on a natural site in the world, in one of Algeria's most beautiful coastal scenes. Visitors reach the cape by a narrow winding road along the cliffs that passes through a natural rock arch, with stunning views of the clear blue sea, red rocks and small coves. Near the cape is the Pic des Singes, around which Barbary macaques live. The cape is part of Gouraya National Park, and its area has small quiet beaches such as Les Aiguades, popular with summer swimmers, and dive sites thanks to the clear water. The visit is free, and the road is narrow, so drive carefully or walk. The lighthouse itself may be closed to visitors, but the views from the road and the cape are what make the trip worthwhile. Sunset is the best time.
