Casa d'Areny-Plandolit is a large stone house of a noble family in the centre of Ordino village in northern Andorra, now a museum. It has grey stone walls, a long iron balcony, a small round tower at one corner and a little garden with trees. The house was built in 1633 and was home to the Areny-Plandolit family, among the richest in Andorra. Its best-known member was Guillem d'Areny-Plandolit in the 19th century. It is listed in Andorra's cultural heritage. Inside you see the family rooms as they were, with old furniture, the kitchen, the library and the dining room, and learn how the wealthy lived in the mountains. Outside you walk around the house in stone lanes, seeing the balcony and the tower. Ordino around it is one of Andorra's prettiest stone villages. The house is in central Ordino, 5.7 km north of Andorra la Vella. Viewing from outside is free, and the museum charges a small entry fee. Check opening times before you go.
