In this house in San Ignacio lived and wrote the Uruguayan author Horacio Quiroga, one of the great masters of the Spanish-language short story; the surrounding Misiones forests inspired his famous «Cuentos de la selva» (Jungle Tales), published in 1918 and one of Latin America's best-loved children's books. The house is now a provincial museum keeping the writer's furniture, photographs, tools, tableware and handwritten papers, telling of his life in the forest far from the cities. A grove of trees surrounds it on a hill above the Paraná river, and a hall hosts cultural and art events. It opens daily 08:00-17:00. Pair it with neighbouring Teyú Cuaré park and the San Ignacio ruins, about an hour from Posadas.
