The Olaen Falls are a set of waterfalls on a small river on the Pampa de Olaen, a grassy plateau at about eleven hundred metres in the Córdoba hills, some nineteen kilometres from the town of La Falda and 83 from Córdoba city. The river narrows between granite rocks and drops in three steps, the highest about twenty metres, ending in a wide, calm pool. It is a beloved natural bathing spot in summer: people swim in the pool and small rock basins and lie on the smooth rocks in the sun, and there is a small shop, a shared grill area, toilets and tables under the trees. It lies on the gravel road to the historic Jesuit estancia of La Candelaria. It opens daily 10:00-19:00, with a fee per car at the entrance. The road is gravel, so drive slowly.
