Caumasee is a small lake near Flims in the canton of Graubünden in eastern Switzerland, about 2 km south of Flims and 18 km west of Chur in a straight line. It covers about ten hectares. It is one of the lakes lying on the debris of the Flims rockslide and is fed by underground springs, so its level varies by four to five metres through the year, lowest at the end of April and highest in mid-July. When the water is low it warms faster than most lakes in the region, so people sometimes swim in it as early as April. The very clear water glows turquoise and emerald between dense pine and fir forest, with a small wooded island in the middle. The pale bottom shows through the water near the edges, and shady paths run around it. Visitors walk from Flims on forest paths or ride a small funicular down to the shore, swim in summer and hire boats. Viewpoints look down on it from above; summer is busy, so arrive early.
