The Bicentennial Cultural Centre is a cultural complex at the heart of Santiago del Estero, one of Argentina's oldest cities, filling part of the old Government House with its historic facade and arcades after a complete interior restoration and new modern halls; it opened on 24 July 2010. It brings together the city's three main museums: the Historical Museum; the Museum of Anthropological and Natural Sciences, showing pottery of the ancient peoples of the Chaco-Santiago plains and regional fossils; and the Fine Arts Museum. It also has a large exhibition hall and an auditorium for concerts, shows and films. It opens Tuesday to Sunday in morning and evening sessions and closes Monday, for a token fee. Evening is the best time, when its facade is lit.
