Cerro Campanario is a hill on the Circuito Chico road west of Bariloche whose summit, at about 1,050 metres, gives the best-known view in the region: a full circle over Lake Nahuel Huapi and its arms, Lake Moreno, the Llao Llao peninsula with its historic hotel, Isla Victoria and the snow-capped Andes. A chairlift carries visitors up through thick forest in about seven minutes, or you can save the fare on a steep trail of thirty to forty minutes. The top has a café with a glass terrace and viewing decks in every direction. Come on a clear morning or before sunset, and bring a jacket, as the wind at the top is cold even in summer. It is usually combined with a drive round the Circuito Chico along the lakeshore.
