Cerro Castor is a ski resort on the southern slope of Cerro Krund, about 26 kilometres from Ushuaia, opened in 1999. Thanks to its far-southern location and cold climate it has the longest season of Argentina's major ski resorts, usually June to October, with dry, fine snow. It has about thirty runs for every level among lenga forests, chairlifts, a ski school, mountain huts and restaurants, and from the top views over snowy valleys and mountains with the Beagle Channel on the horizon. Besides skiing and snowboarding there is cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Lift-pass prices differ between the promotional weeks at the start and end of the season and the regular season, and transfers run from Ushuaia in winter.
