Piltriquitrón, or «the Piltri» to locals, is a mountain rising to 2,260 metres east of the town of El Bolsón; its Mapuche name means «hanging from the clouds». It is the town's best-known landmark, seen from every street, its rock walls turning orange at sunset. A gravel road climbs about thirteen kilometres by car to a platform on its slopes, and from there trails run through lenga and cypress forests: first to the Bosque Tallado, where artists carved the trunks of a forest burned in 1978, then to a mountain hut, and from there, after registering, up to the summit. The platform itself has a wide view over the El Bolsón valley, its lakes and the Andes, and the mountain is a paragliding spot. A fee is paid at the platform, with residents exempt. Go up by car or with local transfer services.
