An archipelago of 151 islands where the Bohai Sea meets the Yellow Sea, between the Shandong and Liaodong peninsulas, with about 56 square kilometres of land; also known as the Miaodao Islands, it is reached by a short ferry ride from Penglai's port. Its best-known sights are the Jiuzhang Cliff on North Changshan Island, a towering sea cliff carved by the waves, and nearby Moon Bay, a curving beach covered in smooth round pebbles of many colours polished by the sea over thousands of years. The islands hold nature reserves for the migrating birds that stop here on their journeys between north and south and for the spotted seal, South Changshan Island has woods and coastal roads, and the villages are full of restaurants serving fresh seafood. A ticket for Jiuzhang Cliff with Moon Bay costs CNY 56 since April 2026 and an all-in ticket for the six sites CNY 150, with opening from 8:30 to 17:30, while the ferry is paid separately, per visitor guides. Ask about the ingredients of dishes, as pork is common in the local restaurants.
