A visitor park on the rim of the great Chicamocha Canyon, one of the deepest in South America, where the river has cut over millions of years a winding gorge between dry mountains banded in brown, green and orange, stretching as far as the eye can see. Its best-known feature is a very long cable car crossing the whole canyon, descending from the rim to the river and climbing the far side to the Mesa de los Santos plateau, a long ride over the void with stunning views of gullies and zigzag roads. The park has a huge stone monument celebrating the history of Santander's people, rim lookouts, adventure activities such as paragliding over the canyon, short trails and restaurants serving regional dishes. The sun is strong and the wind fierce on the rim, so bring a hat and a light jacket. The cable car may stop in bad weather.
