A huge marine theme park on Hengqin island south of Zhuhai, opened in March 2014 as part of the Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort; it welcomed some 12.6 million visitors in 2024, making it one of the most visited theme parks in the world, and it holds five Guinness World Records. It has one of the world's largest aquariums, holding about 48.75 million litres of water, with a whale shark tank behind an enormous viewing window where crowds sit and watch, along with halls of beluga whales, polar bears, penguins and sea lions. The park is spread over eight zones, each standing for a part of the ocean, with water rides, roller coasters, a ride through an icy canyon, and water and evening shows that end with fireworks; plan a full day and pick up the show timetable on the way in. The standard adult ticket costs CNY 395 on regular days and CNY 450 on specified days, per the park's notice in force since January 2025. Restaurants inside mostly do not carry the halal sign, so ask about ingredients or bring snacks.
