Chorrillo del Salto is a waterfall dropping from a rock face into a clear pool in a forest of lenga beech, a few kilometres north of El Chaltén. It is the easiest outing in the area: the path is short and almost level, which suits families, arrival day, or a rainy day when the long trails are hard going. You can walk from the village along the road in about an hour, or drive to a nearby car park and take a short walk through the trees. Rocks around the pool make good seats, and the water is icy with snowmelt. Come early in the morning, before the tour buses. Keep off the wet rocks around the falls, which are slippery.

Yes. The path is short and nearly level, and you can drive close to it, but watch the wet rocks around the pool.
