Cidade da Criança («Children's City») is an amusement park in São Bernardo do Campo, in Greater São Paulo, behind the old Vera Cruz film studios. When it opened on 10 October 1968 it was the first theme park in Brazil and Latin America. Its grounds began in the 1960s as the set for the television soap opera «Redenção», for which a whole small town of inland São Paulo was built, with a railway station, houses and public buildings; this set still stands in part of the park. After the series ended the public kept coming, and rides were added. One section holds a miniature Amazon Theatre and a Madeira–Mamoré railway train. The park has had boom years and declines and has been renovated several times. In 2023 two new roller coasters opened, and in July 2025 the «Submarine», one of its best-known attractions, reopened after five years closed. It usually opens Thursday to Sunday from 9:00 to 17:00, and almost daily in the school holidays, with tickets sold online.
