An old river town on the west bank of the Jialing River, about 14 km from central Chongqing, whose name means «Porcelain Port», after the porcelain made and traded here under the Ming and Qing dynasties; locals call it «Little Chongqing». The town was a busy river port for centuries, and a local saying goes «one flagstone road, a thousand years of Ciqikou»; it covers about 1.18 square kilometres between three hills and keeps a miniature picture of old Chongqing. Visitors stroll its main flagstone street and the lanes off it among traditional timber houses, craft and gift shops, spicy local snack stalls and teahouses, and walk down to the riverbank. Entry is free and open all day, with most shops closing around 9 pm, per visitor guides. It's very crowded on holidays, so come on a weekday morning; the metro gets there, and many snacks contain pork.
