The widow's falls
About eighty metres and a folk tale.
The Malang area's best-known and most accessible waterfall, in pine forest on the slopes of Mount Panderman west of Batu, dropping some eighty metres off a rock face into a small pool in cool, refreshing mountain air. Its name means the widow's waterfall, from a folk tale of a bride who waited here for a husband who never returned. The road runs close to the falls, followed by a very short walk, so it suits everyone. Around it is a forest leisure area with a hedge labyrinth, horse trails, swings, camping and small stalls selling grilled corn and hot drinks. Entry to the area is about IDR 35,000, with the labyrinth and activities extra. The spray is strong near the falls. Come in the morning before the mist and the afternoon rain usual in the mountains, and bring a light jacket. It combines with Batu and Museum Angkut on the same day.

The pool is small and very cold and the spray strong, so most visitors just stand near the water. Keep off the slippery rocks under the falls.
