Daehan Dawon is the best-known green tea plantation in Boseong County, south-western South Korea, the country's largest tea-growing area. Its tea bushes run in long terraced rows over the hillsides, and it has become one of the most photographed landscapes in Korea. The plantation was founded in the mid-20th century and is now a tourist farm open to visitors. The area's mild, humid climate, closeness to the sea and morning mist help the tea grow. Leaves are picked from spring to early autumn, and a green tea festival is held in the area every spring. You see whole slopes covered in curving lines of bright green tea bushes, like waves climbing the hill, with narrow dirt paths between them. Tall cedar and cypress forest surrounds the farm, and from the lookout at the top the sea appears on the horizon on clear days. It is about 6 km from central Boseong in a straight line. Early summer, when the leaves are new, is the loveliest time, and a café on the farm serves green tea ice cream.
