A forest park in Panyu District, south Guangzhou, covering about 600 hectares, mostly planted woodland, and nicknamed the «green lung» of the city's south. It holds nine hills, the highest being Dawugang at 226.6 m, Panyu's highest peak, along with many lakes and ponds. Local tradition links its name to Lu Jia, a high official of the Han dynasty who is said to have passed through these hills and to be buried here, so the hill took his title, «dafu». The park has old stone paths, bridges and lakeside pavilions. Entry is free, and its long shaded roads are popular for cycling, walking and family picnics; it gets busy at weekends.
