A cable car climbing from the eastern edge of Tirana to Mount Dajti, the mountain that looks down on the capital, a ride of about 4.7 km taking roughly a quarter of an hour, per visitor guides, over forest and hills. From the gondolas the whole of Tirana spreads out beneath you, and as you rise the plains open up as far as the sea on clear days. At the top station are forest walks, restaurants and cafés with panoramic views. Mount Dajti is part of a national park, where locals come for picnics and fresh air, with hiking trails through the woods, and it is noticeably cooler than the city in summer. A return ticket is about 1,400 lek, per visitor guides. Go on a clear day and check operating days first, as the cable car sometimes stops for maintenance or strong winds.
