Dammam's waterfront on the Gulf, a long promenade lined with palms and lawns where locals and visitors come to walk and sit with family, especially in the evening when the heat eases. Along the corniche are playgrounds, benches, restaurants and cafés, fountains and sculptures, and anglers line the rock barriers with their rods at sunset. The promenade follows the Gulf shore, pairing the sea breeze with city views, and its squares fill with families on holiday nights and at Eid. It is free and always open; the hour around sunset is the nicest time. Summers are hot and humid, so winter and spring suit a long walk best.
