A mountain lake

A quiet mountain lake in the Rejang Lebong highlands near the town of Curup, on the slopes of the volcano Mount Kaba, ringed by vegetable and tea gardens and green hills, with cool fresh air; it is a park where Bengkulu's people escape the coastal heat. Around the lake are a promenade and gardens, pedal boats and canoes for hire, stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables from the highland farms, and small cafés overlooking the water. Early in the morning mist lies on the lake, with Mount Kaba behind it on clear days. Entry is a small fee of about ten thousand rupiah, with water activities priced separately. The lake is on the road to Mount Kaba, so combine them in a day from Bengkulu, or with the rafflesia at Kepahiang on a highland trip.
