A large waterpark in the heart of Desaru Coast, a few steps from the beach, opened in 2018 with more than twenty rides, slides and play zones spread among tropical planting and pools the colours of the sea. Its star is a huge wave pool called Tidal Wave Beach, which the park bills as one of the largest in the world, where waves roll in on a cycle like a small sea. There is also a water coaster that carries rafts uphill and down again, fast slides and funnels for thrill-seekers, a lazy river to float down on a ring, and shallow pools for little children. A ticket for visitors without a Malaysian MyKad is about 120 ringgit per adult at the gate, with a surcharge of around 15 ringgit on school and public holidays, and booking online is sometimes a little cheaper. It opens from ten in the morning to six in the evening and closes on Tuesdays, except during holidays. Come at opening time to ride the big slides before the queues, and pick a mid-week day if you can. Lockers and food cost extra, and the sun is fierce, so bring sunscreen and a hat. You can end the day on Desaru Beach next door.
