Dique La Quebrada is a small dam and green lake among the hills of the Sierras Chicas, about seven kilometres west of the town of Río Ceballos, north of Córdoba city. The project was first studied in 1913 to bring drinking water to the area, and today it supplies Río Ceballos, Unquillo and Mendiolaza. The lake covers about thirty hectares, and its level swings widely with rain and drought. The lake is the heart of the La Quebrada Natural Water Reserve, about 4,200 hectares covering its whole basin, with hills, mountain woods and streams. Only non-motorised water sports such as kayaking and rowing are allowed; there are walking paths and picnic spots around it, and the curved dam wall gives views over the valley. Visiting is free and suits a half day from Córdoba. It is loveliest after the summer rains, when the lake is full.
