The Los Molinos Dam holds back the second-largest reservoir in Córdoba province, in the Paravachasca valley at about 770 metres, among green hills southwest of Córdoba city, near the towns of Los Molinos, Alta Gracia and Potrero de Garay. The dam is a curved concrete wall 60 metres high and 240 metres long at its crest, driving hydroelectric plants, while the wide lake behind it is a weekend escape for Córdoba's people: sailing, kayaking, fishing and picnics on the shore, and sunsets over the water from the viewpoints. Small lakeside villages and campsites ring it. The lake is open and free, a day out from Córdoba or a stop on the road to the Calamuchita valley.
