Dodamsambong is a group of three rock peaks rising from the Namhan River near the town of Danyang in North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. It is Danyang's best-known sight and first of its famous Eight Scenes, photographed in every season. The middle peak, the largest, is called the father, with two smaller peaks either side. A small six-sided pavilion called Samdojeong stands on the middle peak. The place is linked with the scholar Jeong Do-jeon, a founder of the Joseon kingdom, who took his pen name from these rocks; his statue stands on the bank. A natural stone arch called Seongmun lies nearby. You see three sharp grey rocks rising from calm green water, with a small curved-roof pavilion between them, all mirrored on the river. Rounded green mountains surround the river, and at dawn mist rises from the water as the sun comes up behind the rocks. It is about 3 km from central Danyang in a straight line. Viewing from the bank is free, and parking has a small fee.
